Maple Plaza

Beverly Hills, CA

A 1980s office complex over a parking structure was upgraded to meet present-day requirements. Programming and analysis of existing courtyards found overgrown, tired planting that needed sequencing of individual spaces. Previous landscape and seating was monotonous; utilizing one palette of furniture throughout the plaza. Three courtyards were indistinguishable from each other and their planting materials were homogenous. Pamela Burton & Company approached these issues by differentiating planting and paving color palettes and reinforcing distinctive characteristics of shrubs and trees. Seating was designed to accommodate dining, outdoor meetings, private reflection or telephone conversations. The streetscape was updated with masses of flowering materials that relate to the building and its environment in a fresh, cool manner.
