Los Angeles LGBT Center (Anita May Rosenstein Campus)

Los Angeles, California

The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Anita May Rosenstein Campus is a mixed-use project in densely-populated Hollywood that provides services and affordable housing for at-risk seniors and youth and operates as the new headquarters for the LGBT Center. Three new structures and a two-story subterranean parking garage were developed and incorporated into the overall campus. The landscape for this diverse campus serves to unify the structures and offer visitors, users and residents a series of safe and usable landscaped plazas, courtyards, garden areas and landscaped pathways. A 14,025-square foot open space between the senior and youth housing facilities offers gathering space for large or small groups. Central to the campus is the Anita May Rosenstein Center (AMRC) that features a series of intimate courtyards carved from the mass of the building. Additionally, the Center features green roofs that collect and filter rain water, ultimately delivering it to a cistern below the parking structure to provide irrigation for the campus.
