The California Center for the Arts, located on seventeen acres, adds a conference center, arts center, and theatres to the existing Escondido city hall facilities. Pamela Burton & Company, in collaboration with the architectural firm, Moore Ruble Yudell, designed an entry grove composed of tightly spaced rows of London Plane Trees, Tulip Trees, Weeping Acacias and Purple-Leaf Plums, which frame views of the plaza and theatre. Using the massing of buildings to form a series of twelve outdoor courts, the landscape illustrates selected views of local history. The courts are also used as outdoor performance areas for theater, rehearsal, and gallery spaces.
